When Is the Best Time to Install Permanent Holiday Lighting in DFW? (Month-by-Month 2026)

If you ask 100 DFW homeowners when to install permanent holiday lights, 90 will say October. Wrong answer. Here's the actual best-time-to-install ranking based on our 2024–2026 install calendar.
BEST: February through May. Lead times are 1–2 weeks (vs. 6–8 weeks in October). Installers have full crew availability so you get senior leads, not seasonal hires. Pricing is at the floor — most companies, including us, run a 10–15% spring discount to keep crews working before pool/landscape season ramps. And you get 6+ months of warm-white accent lighting before the holidays.
GOOD: June through August. Pricing returns to standard but lead time is still only 2–3 weeks. Texas heat means roof time is brutal — quality installers limit afternoon work and start at 6 AM, which makes scheduling tighter. Bring iced electrolyte drinks for your install crew.
AVOID IF POSSIBLE: September through mid-November. This is peak season. Lead times balloon to 6–10 weeks. Pricing rises 10–15% across the industry due to demand. Many companies hire seasonal labor with limited training. HOA approvals stack up so paperwork takes 2x as long. If you book in October hoping to be lit by Thanksgiving, you'll likely miss it.
EMERGENCY ONLY: Mid-November through December 20. We do same-week installs in this window for $400–$800 rush fees. Skip the Christmas-light scrap chase by booking earlier.
WORST: December 20 – January 31. Crews are exhausted from peak season, weather is unpredictable (DFW ice storms), and any leftover product inventory is going into preorders for next year. Just wait until February.
Tax-season bonus: many DFW homeowners use February–April refunds to fund the install. Combine that with our 10% spring discount and 0% 12-month financing and you can roll out a full estate install for under $500/month with no interest.
