HOA Rules for Permanent Holiday Lighting in DFW (What's Allowed, What's Not)

If you live in Stonebriar, Carillon, Phillips Creek Ranch, Trophy Club, or any of DFW's gated communities, your HOA almost certainly has guidelines on exterior lighting modifications. The good news: permanent holiday lighting passes review more often than not — when it's specified correctly.
Three things drive every HOA decision: (1) is the track visible during the day, (2) does the color of the channel match the home's fascia, and (3) can the system be programmed to comply with quiet-color rules outside the holiday window. Slim aluminum tracks color-matched to your fascia answer all three.
Most boards request a one-page packet: a daytime photo simulation, manufacturer specs, an install diagram showing where the channel sits under the eave, and a written description of programmable scenes. We prepare this packet for every HOA install at no additional cost.
Watch out for boards with strict bulb-size or color-temperature clauses. Older HOA documents written before RGBW LEDs existed sometimes restrict 'colored bulbs.' These clauses almost always exempt programmable warm-white year-round operation, but it's worth a 5-minute call with your ARC chair before submission.
Pro tip: submit in late summer. Boards meet less often in November and December, and a delayed approval can push your install past Thanksgiving. We can help you draft the submission letter.
